"Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina Nature Park (Alentejo's South West and Vicentina coast) has 89,568.77 ha (60,577.25 ha land area and 28,991.52 ha marine) and has a great diversity of coastal habitats, such as beaches, cliffs, islets and isolated rocks. Pessegueiro island, in fact a consolidated dune, is "anchored" two steps from the shore.
In land, woods and moors alternate with irrigated and rainfed plantations and production woods. Presence of rare botanical species mainly on Sagres and São Vicente capes area. Several nesting birds with the white stork building nests on coastal rocks and an important passageway for many other birds. An interesting otter population using the sea.
The ocean constant presence and never ending horizons, São Vicente majestic nature, marvelous sunsets, the stories of Sagres and above all those enormous stone walls on the ocean edge hiding or revealing small enchanted beaches and attractive little fishing ports complete one of the simultaneously loneliest and most attractive seashore landscape in Portugal."
